AAPI Heritage Month Campaign
In celebration of the Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, I decided to take some time and create some campaign materials to be shared online, Instagram to be specific. I have set the dimensions to support Instagram’s requirements. I truly enjoyed making these posters. Being an Asian person myself, I felt the immense responsibility to use my design abilities to create awareness and be vocal about our fight to end racism, xenophobia, and discrimination against the AAPI community.
Design wise, my gaol was to create something that looks like it came straight out of a 90’s textbook. I really focused on staying with the 2-D aspect and remaining flat with the elements and the design. To put it simply, I wanted to create a minimalistic yet functional imagery. I also have chosen fonts that are quite fitting for the time period I’m trying to emulate. To make it even more realistic, I also added a textured background to create that printed on paper feel. Moreover, I also chose colors that are quite muted and pastel in nature. I thought it added some vintage and retro feel to the whole thing which helps support the theme I am going for.
